Private residence Winona Drive

On an L-shaped lot, tucked away from the road, the absence of typical street datums allowed artistic energy to be drawn from this unusual setting. Backyard sheds influenced the sharp-edged form and homogeneous materiality of the two-level house, shaped using a simple geometry and clad fully in dark, textured cladding. Inside, the sloped roof planes intersect tall walls at dramatic angles, producing criss-crossing plays of light and shadow across the white surfaces. A bright pink entryway, sliced away from the volume, articulates a clear point of arrival, while paying homage to the owners’ Mexican heritage. Their personalities are also expressed through a warm assortment of furniture and objects, which contrast the minimal exterior resolution.
